Most Wanted is a weekly series in which one Who What Wear team member or friend of the brand will share the top 30 finds on their current wish list.

Whenever I’m in Mango, Zara, or H&M, I just feel like I am home (both in the store and online). Each one is relatively similar, and I know my favorite sections—where I’ll find more going-out pieces, where they place their newest items, where the more discounted pieces are hiding, and so on. This, if you ask me, makes me an expert when it comes to the power three. After checking my closet and realizing that I’ve acquired quite the summer collection solely from the retailers this season, I decided it was time to do a haul of all the glorious summer pieces they’re unveiling on their sites daily. So if under-$200, extremely chic, on-trend things are what you’re after, please … Read the rest

For the coming months (and years, even), trend forecasters are buzzing about one major, unexpected color trend: lavender. In case you hadn’t heard, the hue totally dominated fall/winter 2021 runways, which was enough to send beauty obsessives right to the nearest Sephora to snag a few new plummy palettes for their rotation.

After studying the tidal wave of purple makeup moments on IG, we’ve had something of a discovery at Who What Wear. Purple eye shadow looks great on everyone. No, really. Whether your eyes are chocolate brown, powder blue, or somewhere in between, the statement shade will add an optimistic boost to your usual glam.

Not sold yet? Not to worry. We’ve pulled together 19 examples to get you on the hook, all executed to perfection by beauty gurus and celebrity makeup artists like Mary Phillips, Nikki Wolff, and Hung Vanngo. Whether you default to mood-boosting pastels or … Read the rest

Color me a little bit freaked out, but there seems to be a new swimsuit trend popping up everywhere, which I’m not sure how to categorize except as “loincloth-esque.” Ruched or smocked, this body-baring swimsuit bottom style seems to be the bikini of summer for a certain subset of trendsetters. While I know it’s a very specific look (one I’m still trying to decide if I can actually pull off), there’s something weirdly intriguing about it.

Chalk it up to the ultra-high vintage-style rise or the fact that these suits redefine the idea of barely there tan lines, but I’m toying with the idea of trying one out. After careful consideration, I think the key is pairing your suit of choice with basics: denim cutoffs, a T-shirt, and basic sandals because in this suit, there’s no need for any other statement clothes.

Since I know it’s a bit of an … Read the rest

The third season of Master of None opens with Lena Waithe’s Air Jordan 1s prominently displayed, and her footwear remains front and center for the duration of the narrative. Apart from her vast sneaker collection, the Emmy Award-winning actress, who plays the lesbian author Denise in the hit Netflix series, sports Gucci slides and the much-ballyhooed Yeezy Foam Runners – dubbed Yeezy “Crocs” due to their uncanny resemblance to the ubiquitous rubber clog – throughout the five episodes.

Denise and her partner, Alicia (Naomi Ackie) are the stars of the show this go-around, which takes place in a bucolic country home in upstate New York. Though miles away from city life, each character has her own distinct, carefully curated style: Denise channels classic hip-hop, while Alicia is more eclectic and experimental.

Here, Master of None costume designer Kate Forbes discusses collaborating with Lena Waithe, sourcing LGBTQ+ designers, and the Yeezys. … Read the rest

Do you ever find yourself 15 pages deep into an Amazon search, reading product reviews with such intensity that you feel like you know the people writing them? Because I sure have. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve gone into a rabbit hole of reviews on Amazon, and let’s face it, it won’t be the last. Haters will say it’s a waste of time, but to them, I simply show off my well-curated shopping cart, which is now full of prospective purchases that feel satisfying because of how well-researched they are.

Well, on a recent such virtual shopping trip, I focused my attention on swimsuits. And boy, do I have some excellent finds to share with you here. Swimsuit season is almost here, and even if it means I’ll be sporting mine in my backyard, I’m still just as excited to add a few new styles to my wardrobe. … Read the rest

By now, you and the rest of the world are probably up to date with the newest venture from Kim Kardashian. Skims—a loungewear-meets-intimates-meets-shapewear brand—launched almost two years and has already secured retail space at big-name retailers like Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter, and Ssense. Of course, as with almost anything Kardashian does, Skims launched with much fanfare and press, but I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical. Celebrity-founded or celebrity-endorsed clothing lines come a dime a dozen, and as a fashion editor, your eye becomes even more discerning. But unlike the trove of those celeb brands, I kept hearing from my peers that Skims is actually good. To be even more precise, my friends called it a game-changer. While shapewear and seamless intimates have always been a thing, until Skims, they haven’t been as accessible in such a diverse range of flesh-tone colors and sizes at a relatively affordable price point. For the past four years (and counting!), we’ve been completely obsessed with the stylish millennial women of The Bold Type. In case you’re unfamiliar, the comedy-drama inspired by former Cosmopolitan magazine editor-in-chief Joanna Coles is every bit inspiring as it is realistic. Every week, like clockwork, we’ve tuned in to watch Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee), and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) deal with the trials and tribulations of being a twenty-something in New York City, and working at the fictional Scarlet magazine.

Along the way, we’ve watched the co-workers-turned-BFFs experience growing pains personally, professionally, and yes, sartorially. Let’s take a look back, shall we? Jane is the Type A neurotic writer whose wit and romantic worldview is reflected in her choice of attire. Kat, on the other hand, is the whip-smart free spirit who works hard to get what she wants, even if she doesn’t know it at the … Read the rest

Any Gossip Girl fan appreciates the value of a good secret. I’m not condoning blackmail, but there is something deliciously satisfying about being in the know before everyone else. Try as I might, it was nearly impossible to get our June cover stars, Emily Alyn Lind, Jordan Alexander, and Zión Moreno, to divulge anything worthy of a Gossip Girl push notification, but they were willing to share a few insights about their characters, provide anecdotes about fun behind the scenes, and have a little fun with a quick game of two truths and a lie.

If you thought the Balenciaga Platform Crocs of 2017 were um, unexpected, brace yourself for the brands’ latest collaboration. The luxury fashion house recently debuted its spring 2022 collection featuring Balenciaga Crocs 2.0. This time, the popular clogs are in the form of heeled mules and chunky rain boots. And while the internet is unsurprisingly in an uproar over the collection, I have to admit, I’m intrigued. After all, those sky-high platform clogs sold out in pre-orders.

I haven’t worn Crocs since the fifth grade (and even then, I wore them, like, to the pool), so I have yet to jump on the resurgence, but the mules have certainly caught my attention. Sure, they’re ugly, but so were dad sneakers and Birkenstocks, until society deemed them cool again. Personally, I’m envisioning the green stiletto as a statement shoe for summer, paired with ripped jeans and a simple graphic tee. I … Read the rest
