For the past four years (and counting!), we’ve been completely obsessed with the stylish millennial women of The Bold Type. In case you’re unfamiliar, the comedy-drama inspired by former Cosmopolitan magazine editor-in-chief Joanna Coles is every bit inspiring as it is realistic. Every week, like clockwork, we’ve tuned in to watch Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee), and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) deal with the trials and tribulations of being a twenty-something in New York City, and working at the fictional Scarlet magazine.

Along the way, we’ve watched the co-workers-turned-BFFs experience growing pains personally, professionally, and yes, sartorially. Let’s take a look back, shall we? Jane is the Type A neurotic writer whose wit and romantic worldview is reflected in her choice of attire. Kat, on the other hand, is the whip-smart free spirit who works hard to get what she wants, even if she doesn’t know it at the … Read the rest

Any Gossip Girl fan appreciates the value of a good secret. I’m not condoning blackmail, but there is something deliciously satisfying about being in the know before everyone else. Try as I might, it was nearly impossible to get our June cover stars, Emily Alyn Lind, Jordan Alexander, and Zión Moreno, to divulge anything worthy of a Gossip Girl push notification, but they were willing to share a few insights about their characters, provide anecdotes about fun behind the scenes, and have a little fun with a quick game of two truths and a lie.

Listen to this Brooklyn-based trio talk … Read the rest

If you thought the Balenciaga Platform Crocs of 2017 were um, unexpected, brace yourself for the brands’ latest collaboration. The luxury fashion house recently debuted its spring 2022 collection featuring Balenciaga Crocs 2.0. This time, the popular clogs are in the form of heeled mules and chunky rain boots. And while the internet is unsurprisingly in an uproar over the collection, I have to admit, I’m intrigued. After all, those sky-high platform clogs sold out in pre-orders.

I haven’t worn Crocs since the fifth grade (and even then, I wore them, like, to the pool), so I have yet to jump on the resurgence, but the mules have certainly caught my attention. Sure, they’re ugly, but so were dad sneakers and Birkenstocks, until society deemed them cool again. Personally, I’m envisioning the green stiletto as a statement shoe for summer, paired with ripped jeans and a simple graphic tee. I … Read the rest

Ah, Crocs. You know them well and probably made fun of your dad for wearing them at one point in time – that is, until those vented foam-resin clogs became trendy. Just like a TikTok video reposted to Instagram, this is not new information at all. Whispers of Crocs becoming either ironically or unironically cool have been swirling in the fashion community for years – designers like Christopher Kane and Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia were in on it as early as 2016 and 2017, respectively, when they each collaborated with the brand to create iterations of their own. But like the person seeing the aforementioned TikTok for the first time on Instagram, I was admittedly late to the game.

Like many of us, I was extremely online throughout the pandemic, and the lack of new Succession episodes had me tapping through Nicholas Braun’s IG Stories almost daily. The missives from Cousin … Read the rest

Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about dressing joyfully, and I’ve been very much on board with this sentiment. After over a year of pretty much being on lockdown and wearing joggers, it’s only natural that we’re gravitating towards bright pops of colors and fun patterns to remerge as social butterflies for dinners, brunches and the bar. But we shouldn’t overlook those basics that continue to make up the staple of our wardrobes—joy can be found under many guises. We know from our own intel at Who What Wear that the pieces that tend to sell the best are basics such as white tees, black dresses and vest tops, arguably the bread and butter of our summer wardrobes.

I turned to five of my favorite people to follow on IG who are well known for their more pared-back wardrobes. Each one has their own distinct style, but the key … Read the rest

As ephemeral as trends can be, they’re typically easy to trace, especially in an era of excessive documentation. It’s the items that have been around forever that have far less transparent origin stories. Clogs – the practical wooden footwear that’s been in and out of fashion’s collective consciousness for as long as we can remember – are one such item.

No one can pinpoint an exact date of inception, likely because clogs, originally crafted from a single block of wood, have existed in many forms, gone by many names, and been found in many countries: Belgian sabot in Belgium; Traesko in Denmark; Sabot in France; Holzschuh in Germany; Klumpes in Lithuania; Klomp in the Netherlands; Tamancoo in Portugal; Asturian madreñas or Cantabrian albarcas in Spain; Träskor in Sweden; Zoggeli in Switzerland; Paduka in India; Bakiak in Indonesia; Geta or Okobo in Japan; Namakskin in Korea; Terompah in Malaysia; Bakya in … Read the rest
