Could a fashion collaboration be any cooler? We don’t think so. Circular-fashion advocate Ganni is collaborating with emerging London-based brand Ahluwalia for Ganni’s 2021 reworked collection. Ganni x Ahluwalia includes an edit of outerwear, dresses, skirts, and tops made from the brands’ surplus materials. This will be Ahluwalia’s first venture into womenswear and the first of two 2021 collaborations with Ganni.

Priya Ahluwalia is the trailblazing British designer of her eponymous fashion brand. The designer is the recent winner of the 2021 Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, which is the latest in a list of impressive accolades – including being part of the British Fashion Council’s 2019/2020 NewGen initiative and the recipient of the 2020 LVMH Prize. Ahluwalia is known for using surplus materials in the creation of forward-thinking collections that are also informed by the designer’s dual Indian-Nigerian heritage and London roots.

This show sits outside of traditional fashion week timing, and is a result of Kors’s announcement last year that he would be taking a new approach to the fashion calendar.

In this bizarre in-between period of reentering society and, by proxy, dressing for the occasion, one can’t help but feel anxious and unsettled. Like many of us, I’ve been looking forward to wearing real clothes again, but now that the time has finally come, I’ve found myself suddenly unable to let go of the plethora of house dresses, leggings, and loungewear that I’ve amassed while working from home during the pandemic (you’ll have to pry my tie-dye sweatsuit from my cold, dead hands!). The mere thought of putting on a full-fledged outfit sends my mind into a tailspin. My humble suggestion? Find a middle ground.

Enter the slip dress. Unlike the traditional ’90s style beloved by style icons like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, this iteration is like a cross between a nightgown and PJs, rendering it ideal for transitioning into the new normal. Simple, easy to wear, and, yes, … Read the rest

British actor Ed Skrein is most well-known for his roles in Game of Thrones, the superhero feature Deadpool and the war flick Midway, which might explain why he’s garnered somewhat of a macho reputation. However, he wants you to forget everything you think you know about him.

We caught up with Skrein to chat about one of his latest roles outside of film — starring in the ad campaign for the Carolina Herrera fragrance, Bad Boy, alongside Karlie Kloss (who is the face of the brand’s Good Girl fragrance).

Below, Ed Skrein tells us why he’s over outdated notions of masculinity, why crying feels so good and the feeling he wishes he could capture in a scent.

What drew you to the Bad Boy fragrance?

I was immediately attracted to the freshness and the deep, dark sensuality of Bad Boy. It makes me think of my good and … Read the rest

Sorry, Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas, I have a style crush on Frankie Jonas. The youngest of the Jonas brothers has been making waves with his personal style, TikToks, and he’s even landed his first fashion campaign for MCM. I spoke with Frankie to learn more about how his style differs from his brothers’, his love for thrifting and Depop, and his plans in fashion.

Right off the bat, I realized that the 20-year-old is just as charming IRL as he is in his hysterical TikToks, and I laughed through our entire conversation. From his TikToks you’ll notice that his personal style is also super relatable and down to earth. (Speaking of TikTok, I’m still not over all his fans spamming his brothers’ accounts with comments like, “OMG! It’s Frankie’s brother!!!”) “My personal style is a mix of a lot of things. I think the best way I could describe … Read the rest

When Alessandro Michele announced he’d be trailing away from the traditional fashion calendar to show Gucci in bi-annual seasonless collections, he was doing what few had already done. Little did we know, the Italian fashion maestro was winding up for more with his Gucci Aria collection.

The collection released this morning as a film includes the results of what Michele calls a “hacking lab” — the target being another luxury force in the stable of Kering brands: Balenciaga. The term “hacking” makes it clear this was not a collaboration, where both parties provide consent. This was a bold incursion into the world presided over by another designer: Demna Gvasalia.

Named Aria — which is defined as a solo performance in an opera — the collection was more of a dance with soft and hard in perfect harmony. Or perhaps Michele was suggesting that he would create an aria, by blending … Read the rest

Brooklyn-based power couple Nick Haramis, a Canadian whose current gig is editor-in-chief of Interview Magazine, and Misha Kahn, a multimedia artist who hails from Minnesota, have received much media attention for their eccentrically decorated apartment. Yet their decadent wardrobe choices also beg for a space in the spotlight thanks to an eclectic closet teeming with pleasingly tactile pieces and scads of items by designer Thom Browne.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY ARKAN ZAKHAROV. “The more familiar I became with Thom’s work, the more I imagined an idealized version of myself in the clothes,” says Haramis.

Netflix’s new true-crime series The Serpent takes us on a journey of glamour, seduction, and murder. It follows the story of ’70s French serial killer Charles Sobhraj (played by Tahar Rahim) who goes by the name “Alain” and his menacing partner-in-crime girlfriend Marie-Andrée Leclerc (played by Jenna Coleman) who goes by “Monique.” While the pair prey on Western tourists traveling in Southeast Asia, Monique uses her charm and fashion sense to lure in unsuspecting victims – and although we absolutely condemn her predatory behavior, we know exactly how to copy her sultry French-bohemian style.

In the 1970s, the ideal fashion look included flared, high-waisted blue jeans or trousers secured with a wide belt. Oversize sunglasses were also very popular, as well as bright psychedelic prints. As depicted in The Serpent, some of Monique’s signature pieces are hair scarves, aviator or large square-framed sunglasses, and gold drop-hoop earrings. She’s most … Read the rest
