Looking after your skin is one of the most important things you can do for your body, and this becomes truer the older you become. The socio-historical significance of the game in South Africa is not a recent phenomenon, as the impressive growth of football over time clearly demonstrates. The first documented matches took place in 1862 between White civil servants and soldiers in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Organised football among Whites originated in Natal, but eventually British ideas about race, class, gender, and empire led to the appropriation of rugby and cricket by Whites, and football and boxing by Blacks. Between the 1880s and 1910s, African, Indian, and Coloured football associations and leagues developed in Kimberley, Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, as well as in the elite mission schools. The game was fun, cheap, and relatively simple. It offered excitement, unpredictability, and new adventures; sport created popular discourse and generated emotional attachment. The ‘intrinsic value’ of football provided valuable entertainment and granted temporary relief from police harassment and grinding poverty. The inter-war years signaled the dawn of a new era in South African football. When slavery and later colonization took place the vision that our ancestors had of educating and raising African children(The African-centered way) was taken out of their control and a new way was imposed on African people-This destroyed our culture in deep and disastrous ways. Worse, this new system of education ran counter to the interests and needs of Africans. As a result, today, African people have never had so many talented and educated economists, educators, sociologists, doctors, lawyers, artists, etc, yet we suffer the worst health, housing, and education on the planet because our education was never designed to promote our interests but rather the goals and the interests of our oppressors. This 700-page masterpiece ends with an examination of the politics of the Civil War and of the Reconstruction as they affected the fate and fortunes of the African peoples in America. What is even more remarkable, is that DuBois connects this complex American historical tableaux to the Paris Commune of 1871 and the formation of Marx’s International Workingmen’s Association. The counter-revolution that followed Reconstruction is interwoven into the nature of American property system. Black Reconstruction in America was truly innovative within American historiography in its wedding together of a brilliant theoretical structure, intuitive realism, empirical evidence and statistical data. Cultural Politics was not the only reason why urban Africans performed American music and dance. Jazz had become part of their musical diet of Africans in south Africa because it reproduces many performance principles of African Traditional Music.

The book that Carol Tuttle wrote called “Dressing Your Truth: Discover Your Type of Beauty” goes into it in depth to the point where she is breaking things down to your body language and the way you walk, your voice tone, how you sit, and even how you doodle. Since EFAs aren’t naturally produced by the body, making a conscious decision to include EFAs in your diet is a move that will significantly improve your natural skincare regimen. Food with fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6 are key elements that act as natural skincare products. These fatty acids also act as building blocks of healthy cell membranes. Medical health experts suggest intake of a vegetarian diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes for vital amounts of EFAs. (18) In other words, the Haitian revolution, its form and nature, and its subsequent tragic history, is a central element of any African historiography. The lessons of the Haitian revolution have not as yet exhausted themselves as we approach the looming revolution in South Africa which has been derailed and delayed for the past 18-20 years, to date. Hence, the perspective from which C.L.R. James wrote The Black Jacobins was to distill the lessons of the Haitian revolution for the African revolution. For James, undoubtedly also for Cheikh Anta Diop, one of the principal roles of African historiography is political and cultural demystification. This is in view of the pernicious role of colonial historiography which continues to the present, albeit in disguised forms. As we will discuss, the key to skin care is matching your diet and skin care routine to the specific skin type you have. Meanwhile, there are some valuable recommendations for lustrous skin, hair and nails that will be helpful to everyone, regardless of skin type. Our own culture beckons to us without making too much noise. Acting it our will help us right our present sinking ship. We can and should shore it to adapt to present without losing its cultural core. That is possible as seen here on the post. The thinking about it is believing that it is doable and can come true in the minds and lives of the Africans of South Africa. In the 73 minute Fish hoofed a long clearance forward. Two ASEC defenders went for it and collided with each other. Lone striker Jerry Sikhosana swooped the loose ball and scored the most important and most famous goal of his life. Pirates held on for another about 17 minutes, which to them felt like a lifetime and were in the end able to celebrate a famous South African victory.

During apartheid, soccer was popular across racial groups, but South Africa was banned from international competition because of its racially segregated government policies. Today, with the country hosting the World Cup, soccer’s popularity is on the wane, largely confined to black townships, while elite and mostly white schools remain the preserve of rugby and cricket. Vaal Professionals were thumped 5-1 away and Celtic beaten 2-1 two days later before PUBS lost 3-1. Now on a roll, Pirates turned their attentions to late stages of The Life Cup. Having already beaten Spa Sporting 2-1 in the first round and African Wanderers by the same score in the second round. They beat Pretoria Bantu Callies 3-1(helped by a Mgidi strut) in the last eight minutes. As can be expected, the clothes of the men were more comfortable, as they only had to contend with wearing pants up to their knees, overcoats, linen shirts, knee socks and heavy shoes. In addition to these, the only addition to the wardrobe is a powder white wig. Apart from showing their gender, the clothes during those times also showed the status of the one wearing it, which was reflected in the type of material used for the clothes. As well as the authenticity of detailing, function is also often tantamount in menswear design. Andrew Groves, Course Director at the University of Westminster , says, “Womenswear designers as a whole, I think, are still stuck in a very old fashioned way of designing, taking inspiration from abstract or ethereal subject matter, whereas menswear is far more about the technical, practical and functional nature of the designed garment. We should not kid ourselves that this is a problem that is faced by Africans in South Africa or is unique to us, only. African Americans, those who are dumb enough and come here to South Africa and behave with some haughtiness and arrogance — displaying how “inga’nt” they are, are in the same boat with us. I need not say this because I might be dismissed as an African in Africa, but Wilson bears out my assertions, and this is what Africans, all over the world, are having to deal with, equally and in the same way, no matter what. In short then, dependency and lack of national autonomy has made Africans slaves to other foreign people who hold autonomy and their own brand of independence(Imperialism, etc.) over Africans. It is attempting to unshackle and free themselves fro such servitude that African writers and activists are needed to right the wrongs being perpetrated upon the billions of Africans globally.

In a further effort to separate the aristocrat from the laborer, forms of etiquette and manners were introduced. Men’s fashion became a part of this revolution, and the code of dress was often adopted from the highest ranks of the local military, as those officers were considered members of this blue-blooded class of patricians. Extemeley informative. A must read for anyone wishing to travel and embrase Brasilian life and culture and an excellent introduction to her history. Viva Brasil I look forward to learning more. The gothic fashion refers to a dark mysterious style of fashion which verges on the edge of morbidness; you may have heard of it as dressing like the vampires. This style is associated with teenagers and rock musicians who dress exclusively in black but it is a lot more than that. It encompasses a wholly distinct Gothic culture and includes movies, fiction, and very passionate followers. Status updates, photos as well as likes within the Facebook timeline depicts that social identity is typically based on the self-categorization. It is majorly assigned to people based on beliefs, behavior, and other characteristics (Sanderson, Frederick & Stocz, 2016). For instance, the majority of my status updates are based on football analysis of various teams across the universe, which is accompanied by lucrative photos for a proper explanation. Moreover, my Facebook likes are mostly on the contents that resonate with football analysis (Schwartz & Halegoua, 2015). Thus, most individuals have customized profile in a bid to identify with certain social groups they are typically aligned with, and permit them to easily connect with over certain things, thereby enhancing their respective in-group ties. Anyway, I will return again to read the rest of your hub. I have always found your hubs interesting and insightful. Unfortunately too lengthy (for me) to read in one session. At a certain point I just have to stop and digest, and share my thoughts. I believe it is important for us South Africans to know how we interpret our past and present. Surely, only then we will be able to destroy all misconceptions and move forward as one nation, not repeating mistakes that were made in the past. To put together a coherent historical matrix and mosaic of Africans in South Africa, we need to interconnect all the various historical timelines and oral and traditional history as has already been begun to be sculpted in the first Hub- “South African Culture, Customs, Practices Writ Large: Re-Morphed Cultural Renaissance Against Dysfunctional Existence”. There is a history of South Africa either earlier than 11- and 1600 A.D.
