This week is a huge week in the fashion calendar. We can only attain cultural independence if we utilize our culture, etc to uplift and edify ourselves. We have everything we need to do just that, but we need to begin to learn and know what our cultures are all about. It is about time we stopped aping and emulating useless and different cultures foreign to us(although we should understand foreign cultures) but we cannot be the people of foreign cultures because they are not ours and they are not us. Although now a focus of Brazilian and international media attention because of the negative ecological consequences of development, the Amazon region had long been isolated from national culture. Still, early in colonial times Jesuit missionaries traversed the Amazon River and its major tributaries and established settlements at Manaus and Belem. Both became thriving urban centers during the rubber boom of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Beginning in the 1970s with the construction of the Trans-Amazon Highway and other feeder roads, the migrant flow into the Central-West—the site of BrasÃlia—expanded into the Amazon region. Our customs condition our behavior; our tradition determine ourselves as a people and nation. We cannot afford to be hoodwinked by television, and other western cultural imperial artifacts and their emerging and merging technological gadgets. We should know these, but use them to suit ourselves-and develop our nation, culture and history. When you choose a suit, consider the cloth of the suit. Choose the suit cloth based on climatic condition of the place where you live, and your budget. Cotton suits are best because they keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Linen suits are suitable for humid and hot summer days. Woolen suits are suitable for cool climates. Choose the suit cloth which suits your body throughout the year based on where you live. What about men’s watches? Although many styles for men include the basic leather or metal band and a watch face, a small market for men’s fashion watches has also emerged. The most prominent design has been ice watches which, although more appropriate for urban fashion, take the basic design of a leather or metal band watch and embellish it with rhinestones on the watch face, dial, and band. The rhinestones are made to resemble diamonds and, in some cases, clash – on purpose – with the gold color of the band.
